PELICAN ( 11,50m) We where living on this boat for 11 years on the med. It was the best time of our live.
The boat has proven to be fast and very seaworthy. This was my first design with anti vortex panels instead of boards or keels. The boat sails as high to the wind as any very good monohull. The upper hull extension makes the boat theoretical capsize resistant.
I designed this catamaran 1986. This boat has proven it self as very sea worthy. Built in the UK and is now in Halifax. The boat is not difficult to build. But of course will take time because of size. Manta is now in two versions available. The original and a sloop version. Update 04/04/2016
KD 122 VOYAGER
Latest in the line of big catamarans. All my design experience was flowing in this design. The boat is designed for the long distance sailor in mind. Seaworthiness combined with speed was the primary goal.
For instance the ends are empty for 1,5 and 1,3m for good sea motion. This restricts the accommodation but helps to make the boat more safe. Relative low cost for the boat an. For instance the basis of the mast are flag poles. The a frame mast can be lowered and set without external assistance. A-symmetrical hulls, so no keels or boards are necessary for windward performance.
